Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Halperin, aged 76, who departed this world peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jim was born on March 12, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Known for his boundless curiosity, dry humor, and infectious enthusiasm for learning, Jim dedicated his life to teaching, mentoring, and connecting with people from all walks of life.
A retired history professor, Jim had a lifelong passion for storytelling—whether through the classroom, community theater, or simply around the dinner table. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wit, and knowledge that touched the lives of everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda; his children, Margaret and Andrew; and four adoring grandchildren. Jim will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.
To honor Jim’s lifelong love of exploration and curiosity, we’ve included a window to one of his favorite tools for learning and discovery:
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local library or educational foundation in Jim’s name.
